Why I Love Chicago...

"When I was young, driving through Chicago was always the most exciting part of my annual journey from small-town Sparta, Wisconsin to South Bend, Indiana to visit relatives. The excitement would build from the very first toll booth, through the last oasis rest stop, then on the horizon that electric skyline -- I would be glued to the car windows trying to take in as much as I could, then I would close my eyes and try to 'burn' the images into my memory. I never dreamed I would someday end up living here and when I eventually did after college in the fall of 1990, I thought I would only stay a year or two at the most. But now, 14 years later, I'm still here. This city has supported me in so many ways -- I have built a life here doing what I love, surrounded by beautiful people of so many different cultures, astounding architecture, green space, and the Lake, not to mention the inspiration it provides for my art work -- I am proud to call Chicago my home."
