Art in Alternative Spaces

3rd Annual

Please join us in celebrating the 3rd Annual Highland Park Art Walk, a juried exhibition of artwork by Illinois artists displayed in storefront windows and other areas inside Highland Park businesses from June 1 – June 30, 2008.     The Art Walk attracts thousands of art lovers, collectors and enthusiasts to Highland Park. Other Art Walk festivities include receptions held throughout the month of June inside area businesses, arts workshops and free art activities for children.

A Benefit for the Art Walk will be be held at the Highland Park Community House, 1991 Sheridan Road, on June 14, 2008 from 7 pm – 9 pm where we will present a "Tribute Award" to Highland Park resident Wendy Abrams in honor of her Cool Globes initiative; and honor Highland Park's Cool Globes artists Peta Kaplan, Jessica Lundevall, Beth Shadur, Cheryl Steiger & Nina Weiss.   Ms. Abrams one-of-kind Tribute Award has been created by North Shore Cool Globes artists: Andrea Harris, Sandie Bacon, Linda Doyle and Cheryl Steiger.   (Andrea's mini-globe was included alongside 12 mini globes which were displayed at the United Nations Headquarters for their student observance of World Environment Day last June.    Andrea's and Sandie's globes were selected for display on September 25-28, 2007 at the Clinton Global Initiative Conference in New York City.)

The "Supporter of the Arts" Award will be presented to Highland Park resident Al Klairmont of Imperial Realty and member of the Highland Park Central Business District Property Owners Association, for his ongoing support of the Art Walk.

The benefit will include samplings of food and drink from local establishments and feature a silent auction of artwork and gift certificates to local restaurants and theaters. Music will be provided by the Jim Jacobs Trio. There is a $25 suggested donation at the door.

The Art Walk is presented by Anatomically Correct, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and is endorsed by Mayor Belsky and the Highland Park Central Business District Property Owners’ Association.
