Why I love Chicago...

Dearest dearies,

Chicago is a love because of the amusing potholes, traffic and construction that go on and on, season after season. Small round children and their matching dogs disappear for weeks at a time due to an encounter with the labyrinth called road construction.

But then there are days when city driving is a blessing, an event of historical significance. Like today.

Today I drove west on Devon from the lakefront. If you’ve driven the streets of Chicago you know how difficult driving on Devon can be.

I had a choice: face potential congestion with pedestrians and vehicular conflict or turn off and meander back through the side streets.

I looked ahead on Devon and saw that the way was clear. Somehow the force was with me. I drove all the way back in record time. A miracle!

It is a city of miracles. It is for all those small and miraculous moments that I love Chicago.

You don’t just like this city, you’ve got to love it!

And always look ahead in the city that works.
