2017 PLEIN AIR PAINTING WORKSHOP

Artist Steve Puttrich will demonstrate and teach plein air painting techniques on several important and yet most overlooked aspect of Plein Air painting including:

Intent - Starting with Why. Why paint that scene to begin with?
Seeing - Art in the Ordinary
Design - Using Line, Shape and Value to its fullest extent in creating strong design
Edges - So often overlooked and yet the easiest to fix.
Color Harmony - Seven ways to harmonize a painting.

Steve Puttrich is a unique combination of award winning artist in oils and watercolor, and an inspiring and successful teacher.  He understands how people learn and what is needed to inspire confidence and build skills in artistry.   "Art for me is a way of connecting things. As Steve Jobs so eloquently said, 'Creativity is just connecting things'.   My ‘why’, is to capture and connect to the moment; connecting people in shared experiences to this place and this time. Creating, connecting and experiencing life in all its fullest, and giving back in worship, to our Heavenly Creator, gratitude for all. All the while, leaving something of beauty behind that could last for centuries. These are just a few of my ‘Whys’.  After spending 35 years as an artist, designer, architectural illustrator and vice president of marketing for a world-wide engineering firm, I'm now creating a life being a husband to my artist/wife Bobbie Puttrich and full-time fine artist and instructor. My passion for teaching is second only to my love of painting.  If you’ve always wanted to paint in oil, now is the time."

Artist Steve Puttrich  was interviewed by WGN TV reporter Sean Lewis during our July 2017 Brush with Nature Plein Air Painting Event at Emily Oaks Nature Center.    Click here for video footage of the interview:
