Aftermath 9/11/01 - Oil/Wax/Mixed - Rita Dianni-Kaleel

This poem accompanies the artwork...

This work, meant to be a triptych

Linked by the wax design

Of People from many places

Brought together, by me, medium and time.

But in a terrible moment

Our Country was attacked

The meaning of the triptych

Became so sorely lacked.

Before our eyes we saw

The loss that shocked the World

The horror of the moment

So quickly became unfurled.

The wax poured on the painting

Brought forth a single tear

Another realization

For all of us to share.

In tragedy we united,

Same Fabric/Different Shades

The triptych now is one

Joined by a single frame.

Why I love Chicago...

"I love Chicago, the City of my birth because it represents the strength of the Midwest - It is beautiful, challenging, friendly, talented and progressive, having a rich past history and the promise of a brilliant future.  It is my home."

- Rita Dianni-Kaleel
