Artist's Bio/Statement

Sharon Swidler received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She has exhibited her work nationally and locally, including a one-person exhibit at The University Club of Chicago. Her work is included in several public and private collections in Chicago, Washington D.C. and San Francisco. Sharon maintains a studio in Evanston and currently teaches at The College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL. Concentrating on the formal elements of line and space, I create paintings which blur the boundaries between interior and exterior environments representing changes in our internal and external selves as we navigate in, out and through our surroundings. These paintings allow us to stop and reflect on the simultaneous simplicity and complexity of these ongoing changes.
