BIOGRAPHY

As a painter, I celebrate the beauty of nature in its immediate and unaltered state. I want to show the viewer my experience of the moment of existence - however transient - when sunlight reveals itself on the landscape transforming everyday natural settings into their own magical realms, far removed from the destruction and the hustle of the industrialized world. As one is inspired by the subtle beauty of our natural environment, one also realizes its fragility and importance of its preservation for the future.

Among other things, two years ago I undertook a project of preserving in paint one of the Midwest's most beautiful, yet fragile, resources - our local ravines. The result is a series of thirty paintings that depict a feeling of local ravines during each of the four seasons. My goal is to capture our ravines in the continuously evolving cycle of nature- a cycle that with increased public support for preservation will never have to end. My paintings also depict landmark scenes of the prominent landscape architect, Jens Jensen, who integrated his structures into the local ravines, public parks, and forest preserves.
