Maria received a Master of Art Administration from The School of the Art Institue of Chicago and a BFA from Northern Illinois University. Her artwork has been exhibited in many local galleries including Black Walnut Gallery, She.Art Chicago Gallery, Finestra Gallery, Orleans St. Gallery, Illinois Institute of Art Gallery, Concordia University, Art House Gallery, Belloc-Lowndes Gallery, ARC Gallery and many others to mention only a few.
"It is my belief as a painter, that buildings, when looked at closely and with special appreciation, tell their own story. They seem to have a history and a spiritual life of their own from all the people who live/work there now and have lived/worked there in the past. I hope the viewer takes a closer look at colors and patterns in wood, brick, glass or other materials. What may seem to be an old, rusted building at first glance, can be transformed into beautiful shades of color and texture. Or what may seem to be a simple glass window actually shows us colors and shapes through its reflections."
