Artist Statement

I fell in love with color when I was five years old. I could sit for hours, dabbling with my paints, marveling that yellow slapped over blue produced green. Purple, the color of lilacs, was my favorite color.

Somewhere over the years, my fascination with colors got lost under my increasing list of responsibilities: single parent, student and entrepreneur. By the time I realized that I had neglected my creative side, I feared it was dead. I was wrong.

My “Evolution of an Artist” collection includes watercolors that capture the essence of a particular locale or subject of nature. Favorite places I have visited have a lasting impact on my life and work. After a trip to Italy, people claimed that my Treasures from Tuscany paintings literally transported them to the old cities lined with shutters, cobbled streets warmed by the Tuscan sun. My Irish Impressions collection shares with the viewer the rich, fertile valleys and undulating hills of the Emerald Isle.   Color speaks to my eyes as music speaks to my ears. Both influence my heart and soul. I change elements of nature into abstraction while listening to music. In my Sultry Sounds of Color series I express the synergy and sensual fluidity of both “languages”.   I overcome creative stagnation by exploring new mediums and techniques. I find my artistic voice by studying others. My abstracts have been compared to Georgia O’Keeffe and Wolf Kahn.   Share my artistic journey. Let it inspire you to tap into your own creativity. It’s never too late to rekindle your creative spark and lead a more passionate life."
