STATEMENT/BIOGRAPHY

"As an abstract artist my goal is to create an environment that awakens the soul. To accomplish that, I meditate for a time. During this meditation process I feel the painting that wants to emerge from this inner exploration. Together with my mantra and supplies the painting is created. At other times, the creative process comes from an experience on an energy level of an interpretation of recent events in life. I let the painting show me what it wants to be. Sometimes I don’t know what the painting will be until it tells me it is finished. I love watercolor media because it is so fluent and colorful, each line telling a story and for me an easy medium in which to work.

I start out with applying spider webbing onto Yupo paper or canvas. With my favorite colors, I water down the paper before I use pigment to stain it. The use of Yupo, canvas and/or watercolor paper allows the paint to be placed by brush or spraying onto the paper. Using the wet-on-wet method, the colors slowly runs in together where you don’t know where one color beginnings and another ends, which I feel awakens the soul. Keeping the webbing on the paper until it is completely dry, you begin to see what the painting is expressing. Once you remove the webbing you can touch up or create anything you want.

In this world we share where everyone is rushing all the time, I invite the viewer to experience a sense of flow and a deep sense of their own personal insight and growth through my exploration of my paintings. It brings me joy when my work is presented and the observer goes to that inner space within them and communicates with the painting, as well as getting a sense that there is something different going on every time they look at a piece. I hope that the viewer will walk away with a renewed capacity to view the world in a different way. Namaste."
