ABOUT THOMAS BALSAMO

Thomas Balsamo was very fortunate to find his craft at a very young age.   When he was ten years old, he received his first camera as a gift.   His love of photography developed into a career while growing up in the Barrington area photographing the surrounding countryside.   Thomas began creating portraiture in 1978.   His love of portraiture and interest in people is reflected in his classic yet simple style.   His objective is to capture the true personalities of his subjects, invoking a feeling that can be experienced each time his work is viewed.   Thomas looks at each assignment as an opportunity to create artwork, striving to create images that enrich subject's lives.   These true representations provide many years of enjoyment.

Thomas' work was featured on CNN television, has been published in Professional Photographer, RangeFinder and Parent magazines and is on display nationally and internationally.   He is sought after to teach seminars revealing his unique and special approach to portraiture.   Thomas' vision is to create meaningful portrait collections that will motivate and inspire people, and he accepts outside commissions for both corporate and non-profit organizations.   He is co-creator and photographer of Souls:  Beneath and Beyond Autism which was awarded the Autism Society of America's "Literary Work of the Year" for 2003.   For more information visit www.portraitsbythomas.com and www.booksthattouch.com.
